Articles about slate tablet

Slate tablets are the all in one cousin of convertible tablets. Everything is included in the screen, from the keyboard (virtual) to the internal components. Slate tablets don’t have any moving parts (maybe except external buttons) which makes them ideal from a mobility point of view and reliability. The Apple iPad is the most known slate tablet, the one that started it all. If you’re planning to work on your tablet then get a convertible tablet but if you want to have fun just get a slate.

JooJoo tablet preorders show a different image

Remember we've told you yesterday about the JooJoo tablet nearing it's production phase. Well, things are not running smoothly as anticipated by Fushion Garage, the one making it. Press court materials (from the Michael Arrington lawsuit) revealed only 90 units pre-ordered, with 15 of them being cancellations. That's not going to help them get enough money to pay the lawyer, not to say about increasing production. It's going to be tough to fight on two fronts: on one side a pretty solid lawsu...

Nav 9 Atom powered slate tablet almost here

Remember what I've said about the Nav 9 slate type tablet powered by Atom? I said it was too expensive for what it offered, with prices between 799$ and 1399$, depending on configuration. This is way too much money to pay for Atom sluggishness, so they've lowered the starting price to 599$. Still expensive, but better nonetheless. For this amount of money you get the Atom N270 CPU clocked at 1.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD drive, 8.9 multitouch display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, Wi-Fi, Blu...

Joo Joo tablet closer to launch

Remember the Joo Joo tablet, the one with a legacy of the legal battle between Michael Arrington and Fusion Garage? Well, it's well into production phase and just got a walk through by CNET where we see how it works in real life. From what I saw it's a pretty respectable device when it comes to web browsing, but sadly that's pretty much all it can do. I don't know if I need/want a device that does just web browsing and allows me to see some pictures and listen to music.I must admit the huge ...

Archos 9 Tablet gets speed boost with 1.2 GHz Atom CPU

We've reviewed the Archos 9 Tablet running Windows 7 Started edition a few weeks ago and the general conclusion was that the 1.1 GHz Atom CPU was not powerful enough to get a smooth user interaction. It seems that Archos took this thought into consideration as it just recently bumped the CPU found inside the Archos 9 to 1.2 GHz via the Atom Z515 chip. Now, don't expect major changes, as the overall speed increase is under 10%, but expect it to run a little smooth, and if you turn down some of...

OpenPeak will sell OpenTablet 7 with AT&T

If you remember some of our older posts where we've been saying about tablets that they are best devices to use occasionally at home it seems we are part right, as recently OpenPeak, a company that produced the OpenTablet 7 touschscreen tablet has signed a partnership deal with AT&T to provide them with this interesting mix of mobile tablet, home phone (yes, you can dock it and use as a phone), media command center and home command center, where you can see for example your power consumption...

Neofonie WePad tablet: yes, we can!

Everybody likes the iPad, or at least the idea. Some like it so much that have announced products with very similar design, to say the least, or name, like the WePad slate type tablet from Neofonie, based in Germany. I bet Apple's lawyers are gathering around and plan on how to sue Neofonie for this name that clearly resembles the iPad, especially when you look at the general design. From hardware and software specs things couldn't be more different: Atom CPU at 1.66 GHz (I  bet it's the Pin...

Samsung tablet: 4G and Android?

It's not the first time we talk about Samsung's plans to offer a similar slate type tablet to the iPad this year. We don't know much about it, but now that we know Samsung is going to produce some 3 million displays for Apple to use in its iPad it seems obvious to me they'll use this type of display for themselves too, so expect a 9.7 inch tablet from Samsung.Other rumors state that Samsung will use the Android OS in its tablet, not Window 7 like it was thought before. This seems more logic ...

Interview: the story behind ExoPC (with video)

It's true when people say that many times in order to get any kind of info you just have to ask. I learned this lesson yesterday when I got in touch with Jean-Baptiste Martinoli, CTO Of ExoPC, the company that makes the ExoPC Slate together with Ciara Tech, a hardware based company from Canada. The latter provides the hardware inside the ExoPC Slate while the former is responsible for the software interface which they hope makes all the difference from other Windows based touch tablets and ev...

First specs of the HP Slate tablet and estimated price are here

We've first mentioned the HP slate tablet PC at the beginning of this year, during CES, when it was first announced by Microsoft. Since then we've only heard rumors that it'll be available this year, that it will be expensive, but nothing for sure. Today things are getting more clear as a Spanish tech website found out that the starting price of the HP Slate will be 400 EUR in Europe, which amounts to around 550 $, but officially we can even see lower pricing as we all know the vast majority of ...

Saycool tablet is not so cool as it comes with Windows XP

I don't know you but I like the idea of a smaller screen tablet, like 7 inches because it makes it pocketable enough so that you can carry it around with you in a backpack along with a regular laptop. That's why I got a little excited when I read about the Saycool slate type touch tablet with a 7 inch capacitive screen, multi touch enabled in programs like Firefox, Chrome or Word where you can use kinetic scrolling, pinch to zoom and other already popular gestures.I've cooled down rapidly wh...
