We've been hinting here and here on All Touch Tablet about a 7.85 inch iPad Mini that will launch probably in 2012, and today I've seen the rumor coming up again, with Digitimes saying Apple was persuaded by Amazon with its Kindle Fire tablet to prepare a smaller size iPad Mini, probably with a smaller price tag too.The same 7.85 inch size is mentioned, with actual production starting in Q2 2012 and delivery taking place sometime in Q4, which means for the better part of 2012 we'll be deali...
Remember the last week rumor about a mini iPad, a dumbed down version of the current iPad 2 meant as a cheap Apple tablet to compete with the Kindle Fire? Apparently the iPad Mini will be a smaller size tablet, not a product with weaker hardware, which is something we applaud, even if Steve Jobs has said last year that a 7 inch form factor is not good enough to allow for comfortable touch use with current software. How do we know this? Apple just ordered a few samples of 7.85 inch screens ...
After last year's launch of the 1st gen iPad tablet a few rumors have started to run around about a mini iPad, but were quickly dismissed by Steve Jobs, who said Apple didn't believe in a smaller form factor tablet. 10 inches is perfect and you don't want to mess with perfection, right?Apparently they're going to stick with that, but will offer a mini-iPad version meant to counteract the cheap $199 Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. In this case the 'mini' refers to pricing, not the size of the tabl...
10 years ago we had desktops and laptops. Now we have tablets, netbook, ultraportables, mainstream laptops, gaming laptops, smartphones and convertible tablets. Each gap between size tends to be filled with a new type of device. Samsung is rumored to be working on a 5.3 inch tablet, a bridge between large screen smartphones and 7 inch tablets. Dell tried to do the same last year with the Dell Streak 5, but it was far from success, both because of unusual size and antiquated software: it run on...
January has passed and Apple didn't make any official announcement about the iPad 2, rumored heavily all over the web, including here at All Touch Tablet.com. This situation didn't slowed town the river or rumors, it even pushed people's imagination to work, so here are a few things we've heard past week about the iPad 2 and another big surprise from Apple.WSJ says the iPad 2 will be faster, have more memory than the first gen iPad, a slimmer body, dual cameras (finally), but unfortunately t...
We've kind of mentioned the Dell Streak 5 inch Android Slate tablet many times here, but now it's not about it directly, but about what you can do to improve its functionality. Some guy figured out that the 5 inch and something diagonal case fits perfectly into the bonnet of the Logitech DiNovo Mini bluetooth keyboard, forming what you would call a mini laptop.Synchronization is a breeze, taking just a few seconds, since we have here two devices compatible with Bluetooth. All you have to do ...
It's not the first time we talk about Dell's entrance to the touch tablet arena, which is meant to be done in a rather unusual way: by testing the waters with the Streak Mini tablet featuring a 5 inch display. Many have complained that 5 inches are not enough for a true mobile experience and I tend to agree with them.It seems that Dell has heard those complaints and is already working on two bigger brothers for Streak Mini 5, a 7 inch and a 10 inch model. Those two showed up on a document th...
It's been a long time since we've seen the Dell Streak Mini 5 tablet showing around in various prototype forms but now it's time to watch it again on Dvorak's Cranky Geeks IT show, where one of his guests had one of those prototypes and cared to present it a little. It seems the prototype is a little more polished than the last time we've seen it and was running a high bitrate movie trailer with ease. There was some speculation going on about pricing which apparently will be somewhere around 300...
Even it for consumers who bought the iPad things are settling down, for Apple the race continues as they are already working on the next gen device and gadget concepts. As some rumors have stated, Apple had played already with various screen sizes, including 7 inches and, reportedly, 5 inches, which I find too small for a tablet.Even if this info is just in form of rumor now, we can't help and wonder if Apple is trying to fill the gap between the 3.5 inch screen of the iPod and the 9.7 inche...
We've covered the Dell Mini 5 tablet codenamed Streak a few times here and here. The first thing to notice is the small screen, just a tad larger than the one on a smartphone. Dell seems to like this idea that a tablet with a small screen could replace your mobile computing needs and will make you carry it around with you everywhere you go unlike a 10-12 inch tablet. I tend to agree with them on the second part, but I don't see why I wouldn't buy a larger screen HTC HD2 or HTC Desire over the De...
