As you might have read (it's all over the news) HP has announced it bought Palm for 1.2 billions today. It was anticipated that Palm would eventually sell but we didn't know who will buy it. This is one smart move from HP who now owns WebOS, the OS that powers Palm Pre, the last success of the company, one smartphone that really impressed customers, but didn't manage to get Palm out of the financial troubles it was in.Now there's a lot of speculation about what HP might do with its product l...
We've talked a few times about the HP Slate tablet, presented by Steve Ballmer during CES 2010, which is supposed to be a direct competitor to the Apple iPad slate tablet. A lot of rumors have appeared during past months about this mysterious product, but not much more than that.Today it's time to take a first look at the specs and see also at a short video with the main features, which by the way, seems a direct hit on the iPad's lack of USB port, webcam/digital camera and memory card expan...
Flexible displays are something many dream of for a long time. We even wrote something about them a while ago but clearly we're not there yet. Progress is made, as HP showed a few days ago in a demo of a flexible thin and light display prototype. The presented device is in such early state that it can't survive more than a dozen roll ups, but that's more than enough to get us convinced on this idea. Imagine having a big tablet the size of a 15-17 inch notebook that can be rolled into a small ...
We've first mentioned the HP slate tablet PC at the beginning of this year, during CES, when it was first announced by Microsoft. Since then we've only heard rumors that it'll be available this year, that it will be expensive, but nothing for sure. Today things are getting more clear as a Spanish tech website found out that the starting price of the HP Slate will be 400 EUR in Europe, which amounts to around 550 $, but officially we can even see lower pricing as we all know the vast majority of ...
Untill yesterday, the 2740p was just a mysterious convertible tablet from HP, but now that it was presented to the press, I know what's all about it and will share that info with you.The HP 2740p is part of the Elitebook series and is a premium convertible tablet PC, with magnesium alloy rugged case and is compliant with military grade MIL-STD 810G standard for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude and temperature resistance plus has a chemically-strengthened glass display panel.[caption ...
Remember the big announcement HP and Microsoft made at CES 2010? I don't really, because it's not a big announcement, they've just said something about a slate type tablet running Windows 7 and that's pretty much it: no price or specs were disclosed, besides the fact that it will be affordable. Even if this practice seems idiotic I assure you HP knew what they were doing: expecting the iPad announcement to see the price needed to be set in order to stimulate sales. Now that we know iPad sells...
After a set of news about the HP Touchsmart TM2 convertible tablet it's time to see the first unboxing, done by a fellow who actually bought it and squeezed 5 minutes on video on Youtube. From what can be seen below it seems that the Touchsmart TM2 is a pretty solid device, with a nice chiclet keyboard, nice array of ports and a not so nice shiny screen that will attract fingerprints and will definitely render the tablet unusable under direct sunlight. Enjoy!Source: Engadget...
After the Microsoft and HP announcement of their Slate device during CES little info leaked on the web about what we'll actually get to buy later this year and an official interview released by HP brings new info but ignoring sensible areas like hardware used and price but at least we know the device was in works from 5 years ago and was ready two years ago but the problem that prevented them from actually deliver it was the lack of software support and customer interest. Now that things evol...
HP is becoming more and more active in the touch tablets field, as now announced it is working on models that will be released this year with included pico projectors. That's at least intriguing as small pico projectors started to pop up last year as independent devices or included in cell phones and camcorders, paving the way for a new digital trend that might catch up next year at CES.[caption id="attachment_1135" align="aligncenter" width="468" caption="Pico Projectors could be the next t...
We all love when our plans come together but sometime they don't and stuff leaks out on the Internet. The same goes for HP, who's EliteBook 2740p convertible tablet plans might have been ruined by some high school website which mentions it as a professional device, with no consumer orientation. What's expected from the 2740p tablet is a 12 inch form factor with all the security and connectivity features you can expect from a business device. We'll keep you updated on this one once new info becom...
