Articles about convertible tablet

A convertible tablet is what you call a laptop with a rotating 180 degrees screen. A convertible tablet (or simply called “tablet PC”) can be used as a regular tablet or like a laptop. Convertible tablets need a strong screen hinge to allow for multiple rotations without breaking. Currently convertible tablets are surpassed in appeal only by slate tablets, but they are far better when it comes to working with them, offering no limits when it comes to computing power.

Gigabyte T1000: not a Terminator but a convertible tablet

I've presented the Gigabyte TouchNote T1028 convertible tablet wish netbook internals a few months ago and I wasn't that impressed as the price was a little too high compared to similar competing products. It seems that Gigabyte is pushing new convertible tablets from the T1000 series, which might be better equipped and cheaper too. The two models presented by Gigabyte in Taiwan are TouchNote T1000X and T1000P.Both models feature the Atom N450 CPU running at 1.66 GHz, a 10.1 inch screen with...

ASUS Eee PC T91MT video review

The guys at BestNetbookReview.com managed to get their hands on an ASUS Eee PC T91MT convertible netbook tablet and posted a lengthier video review where they've detailed pretty much anything about it that an user should know before buying. Now, I'm not gonna tell you all over again everything about the Eee PC T91 MT, but compare it with the Eee PC T101MT which I've reviewed shortly myself yesterday. The main difference, besides the smaller screen (9.1 inch vs 10.1) is the Atom CPU, which in ...

Viliv S10 Blade convertible netbook tablet starts at 699$

Viliv S10 Blade is an old acquaintance of ours, one that we like and it seems things are on the right path, as it just surfaced on Dynamism's website for a price starting at 699$. Of course there will be more expensive models, just like Apple iPad, but the base specs are pretty good: Atom Z530 CPU at 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB HDD, 10.1 inch resistive 3-point multi touch screen (720p resolution), WiFi, Bluetooth, webcam and a very big 43 Wh battery pack that will get you up to 10 hours of autonomy...

No slate tablets from Lenovo, because of a market study

If Apple stands for innovation then Lenovo is the word for conservative, as their ThinkPad lineup looks and feels the same for many years now. That's not necessarily a bad thing as they already have their dedicated group of professional users that like things just the way they are, with no bling or glossy add-ons.It's understanding that Lenovo's vision of a touch tablet is nothing more than a traditional convertible Tablet PC, so the latest Thinkpad X201T Tablet did nothing else than reinfor...

Lenovo X201T reviews shows a fully packed touch tablet

We've talked about Lenovo's X201T 12 inch multi touch tablet that leaked first on a Lenovo roadmap and then showed up in an Australian online store. Now Engadget managed to get their hands on one and had put a small review for all of us to read, showcasing the good and bad of the 1900 $ tablet. As we've said earlier, this is the first convertible touch tablet fitted with an Intel Core i7 Low voltage CPU, the 2.13GHz 640LM model in this case, a pretty powerful beast that runs cool enough to ge...

Acer demoes TouchPortal interface on 1820p tablet

If there's something I hate about exciting product launches is the fact there's a big gap between the time some novelty is announced and the moment you can really purchase it. The same happened with the Acer 1820p convertible tablet, powered by an Intel low voltage CPU that represents at this time the best compromise between performance and power consumption. At Mobile World Congress Acer showcased what I guess is the final version of the 1820p running with TouchPortal, an interface on top of...

Asus Eee PC T101MT convertible netbook is now finally official

We've already talked here about EEE PC T101MT convertible netbook tablet, but nothing was official enough like the presentation page that had shown up on the Asus website a few days ago. As expected, the T101MT is a 10.1 inch model, a little bit bigger than the EEE PC T91MT, the 8.9 inch version.Asus EEE PC T101MT is not only a grown up version, size wise, but also an updated model with Windows 7 Home Premium OS and Intel Atom N450 Pinetail CPU running at 1.66 GHz, that makes for a pretty fa...

Toshiba Viamo shows that tablets can save lives

When you think about touch tablets I bet you're not thinking about medical devices. Well, Toshiba does, as they've officially announced the Viamo medical tablet, a device that has little in common with normal convertible tablets as it doesn't feature a keyboard, but buttons for ultrasounds sonograms which are supposed to offer the same image quality as premium carts found in hospitals.Toshiba Viamo was recently validated by FDA and is headed to US hospitals as we speak. Price is not somethin...

ASUS Eee PC T101MT user interface video

I hate when producers announce new products and then let you boil in your own juice while waiting for official release to market. That's the case with many convertible tablets based on netbook hardware, like the ASUS EEE PC T101MT, which we've seen in January during CES, but didn't hear anything about it ever since.[caption id="attachment_1431" align="aligncenter" width="540" caption="Asus EEE PC T101MT user interface"][/caption]Till today, when we've got our hands on a short video demon...
