One of the most interesting concepts of 2010 in tablet market was the Dell Inspiron Duo, a convertible tablet/netvertible in essence, but one with a very different hinge mechanism that uses two points of contact that allow the screen to rotate by 180 degrees in a more solid fashion. Of course that China isn't just sitting and applauds Dell and got a clone on market even faster than Dell managed to do with its own product (which is not here yet, by the way). The Chinese brother of Dell Inspiron D...
Further proof that tablet PCs are becoming mainstream is the growing number of outsiders joining in the market with their distinct products. One such outsider was Bresser. Another is Eken. Again, don’t panic if you haven’t heard of them: they’re only big in China. Unfortunately, their specifications are not quite up to date. Their latest launch is the Eken M005 8 inch tablet. It’s bigger than the 7 inch M001 (see more about it here) that it will replace, yet it feels like it’s comin...
We've talked about HP's plans to launch a Webos tablet probably more than HP has talked about it. We still don't know too much about it, but we do know HP is not going to reinvent the wheel, as in an email to the Palm Developer Company it was mentioned the upcoming tablet will be "similar to the iPad".I know this doesn't says too much about what we're gonna experience, but we do know that it's not good to mess with a good formula, especially since Apple got it almost perfect with the iPad. A...
It's unbelievable how the Chinese move when it comes to copying things, especially the ones that are successful. It's interesting that sometimes they get the clone out on the market way before the official copied product does. It was the case with the iPad and other tablets, but what's more interesting is that you can actually buy those clones right now from Amazon for 124$. This one is the ePad, a tablet running Android 1.7 (sure there's a type in here, maybe it's the 1.5 version) on an unknown...
The amazing thing about Chinese gadget copies is that they come out on market sometimes before the original product does. iPad wasn't even here and China was working hard on copying it. The latest 'achievement' is Eken M003, an 8 inch slate tablet running Android 1.6. The visible difference between it and the iPad is the very wide screen border, something I don't particularily like. One of the most important features of the Eken M003 is the price, 230$, for which you get a 600 MHz processor f...
WePad slate tablet seems to get more serious every day that passes and that's a remarkable thing for a tablet that started just like a clone. Now a few German reviewers got their samples from Neofonie and got the chance to review it on video. We have all their videos but unfortunately they're in... you guessed right: German. That's a pity buy you have enough on tape to make an impression of the Neofonie WePad. On the positive side is the right scrollbar that includes easy access to different ...
Neofonie WePad is some kind of funny Apple iPad clone that runs a custom interface on top of Windows 7 (not Android as believed a few weeks ago), is powered by an Atom CPU and that's pretty much it. It was even proper introduced at a press conference in Germany and now surfaced on a short video demo of the interface that explains how you'll interact with the device and how you can customize the home-screen widgets.Unfortunately is clear that the device is still not ready for mass production,...
Meizu is a Chinese company well known for its 'copy skills' and was made famous by its M8 clone of the iPhone. Now they're back (again at Apple) with the Mbook tablet, a near perfect copy of the iPad. Let's not dismiss it all around just because it looks like an iPad copy, as many other bigger manufacturers will surely copy in a way or another the Apple looks for their forthcoming tablets.Speaking about the Meizu Mbook specs, we have an 8.4 inch screen with 1024 x 768 pixels resolution, an 1...
Remember Neofonie's WePad tablet announced a while ago? We had a few laughs back then as they claimed the WePad to be an iPad direct competitor, but we were sure then it was just another manufacturer cloning another successful product from Apple. It seems that Neofonie is dead serious in bringing the WePad to market as soon as possible. They still think they have an advantage in specs (and hopefully pricing) and today during an official press conference further details have been disclosed to the...
As expected, once Apple announced their iPad slate tablet Chinese manufacturers rushed to bring their own interpretation of this design to market. One of them even claimed Apple copied the iPad design from China, but that's another story. In the current story we're showing you early samples of a 7 inch tablet (800 x 480 pixels resolution) running Android OS.Just like the iPad, the core CPU is based on ARM architecture, in this case a 600 MHz RK2808 CPU. Unlike the iPad tough there's a front ...
