Now I’m baffled again by the a video I’ve came upon at TabletBite.com showing what it looks like a preview of Chrome OS virtual keyboard and browser for tablets. Apparently Google is also targeting tablets with its web apps based OS, as CNET revealed by conducting a code investigation of the latest OS build. According to them, lots of elements point towards a touch optimized UI that will work especially on tablets. The most important details confirming this hypothesis are the on-screen keyboard, support for screen rotation and touch-optimized web sites, and a new user agent string for touchscreens. Other secondary changes for tablets, [...]

Original article: Chrome OS will make an appearance for tablets too

We did talk about Chrome OS from time to time, and even speculated it would make for a perfect tablet OS in 2011, when it will appear for officially. Well, Google just officially presented Chrome OS, with all its current features and upcoming ones (it’s still in Beta) at a press event held in San Francisco. As you can expect, Chrome OS is a lightweigh OS, where apps run in browser, which you guessed right, it’s Chrome based. Of course it relies heavily on web access, but unlike current browsers it can work offline pretty well, with apps having an [...]

Original article: Google introduces Chrome OS, together with CR-48 netbook

If you have read our article about current and upcoming tablet OS options you sure have seen that we’ve included the Google Chrome OS, announced approximately one year ago, which has failed to launch ever since. It’s not just an OS, but also a new concept about what mobile computing should be about (web apps that is). An alpha version was somehow offered to developers a long time ago, and ever since hackers use it to showcase their capabilities on various devices. The latest achievement is Chromium OS running on iPad. That’s possible because, after all, all current gadgets share [...]

Original article: iPad hacked to run Chromium OS

Tablet computers are sleek, shiny, cool-looking and handy, the trend of the year. They stand alongside smartphones and e-book readers in the march against conventional gadgets. While the technology itself hasn’t sunk in just yet, it is a good idea to look around and see what software developers are offering as the baseline for our future tablet applications. So in this post we’re going to take a look at the mobile OS options for tablets, tablet PCs and netvertibles. Some of those OSes you’ll recognize, because they are used also in desktops and laptops, but the real deal comes in [...]

Original article: Tablet OS options for mobile devices

Chrome OS is an old story, but one that hasn’t reached climax yet, as Google didn’t launched it officially yet. So we’re left with a few images and short video teasers from last year. But now we know the general strategy of Google, as Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO, recently mentioned in an interview to Reuters that Chrome OS is coming and will be the OS of choice for netbooks, competing clearly here with the MeeGo (the child of Intel and Nokia partnership). At the same time Android 3.0 is pushed forward for high end smartphones and tablets. What I don’t [...]

Original article: Chrome OS for Netbooks and Android 3.0 for tablets and smartphones, says Google

I guess you all follow the news from time to time scanning for Google related bits of info. Today it’s time to take Chrome OS seriously, as the Google VP of product management spoke at Computex, telling the press that this Chrome browser based OS will launch officially sometime in autumn this year. Interestingly enough Google didn’t comment on products availability, but I bet they’re planning something with their partners. It would be madness to launch the new OS with no products specially tailored to it. Of course Google could launch Chrome OS first in Beta form, for enthusiasts to [...]

Original article: Google to launch Chrome OS during this autumn

iPad is a success, everybody knows that, now that the 1 million mark of sold units was surpassed in less than 30 days. Google has an eye on the tablet market for some time, but it didn’t made any serious move till now, when we know they’re developing an iPad killer together with Verizon Wireless. We don’t know yet who’s building the hardware, but I bet it’s HTC, as they’ve already collaborated nicely for the Nexus One smartphone and is not out of the question for HTC to start developing a slim tablet for Google. The other question that remains [...]

Original article: Google Tablet will be supported by Verizon

iPad is essentially a grown up iPod that uses the same light OS of the iPhone. Chrome OS, due sometime this year, is a lightweight operating system for portable devices and is assumed to be the OS of choice for touch tablets too, as will offer the best online experience compared to its competitors Windows Mobile, iPhone OS and even Android. While Google hasn’t announced anything official, yet concept renderings of the slate type tablet started to appear and even a video was created.
