When the first iPad was launched, one thing that made everyone go wild was the 10 hours battery life promise, an outstanding value when compared with laptops, but given the fact a tablet is a supersized smartphone I think we can all agree its not that impressive anymore when compared to a mobile phone.SleepWell is a wireless technology developed by a student at Duke University, which promises to deliver double battery life on current devices that use WiFi, 3G/4G radios by allowing a device w...
One of my favorite convertible tablet PCs of last year is the award winning Lenovo X201t, a very tough tablet with lots of features, industrial design and powerful specs. Now Lenovo has presented the X220t, the new model that makes the switch to a 16:9 screen aspect and 12.5 inch diagonal screen. I know, I know, tablet PCs are not cool anymore, but this one is: it's under 4 lbs weight and manages to last up to 16 hours when paired with a slice type battery that attaches to the bottom of the Leno...
Dell Streak 7 is one of the first tablets in 2011 to make an appearance, a real one, not just a press launch. As the official launch in the T-Mobile network is scheduled for tomorrow reviews have started to show up on the web. Sadly I hadn't got the chance to play with it, but I'm going to make a resume of what people are saying about it. As you can expect, the 7 inch Dell Streak 7 is an evolutionary step from the Dell Streak 5 launched last year. That doesn't mean there aren't many changes u...
A few days ago we were talking about RIM's problems with the Blackberry Playbook tablet that concerned the low battery life figures, which have delayed the official launch by a few months. Apparently RIM has released an official statement that dismisses any problems with the tablet, citing the fact that any person outside the company undergoing battery life testing on the Playbook had only access to a pre-alpha unit (worse that Beta), where power management was not implemented properly or at all...
I hate to see consumers not having what to chose from when it comes to gadgets and especially tablets, as it happened in 2010, when the only viable option for shopping season were the iPad and Samsung Galaxy TAB. Apparently the beginning of the 2011 won't see one of the most interesting contenders, the Blackberry Playbook, which apparently was delayed due to battery issues. In our terms this means less battery life than the aforementioned tablets. So if the iPad gets 10 hours and the Galaxy TAB ...
I love when you can get iPad accessories that also act as stands, protective cases, and in the case of Kensington PowerPack, a battery pack that fits on the back of the iPad prolonging battery life. The Kensington PowerBack does just that. Of course it adds to the overall thickness of the device, but looks rugged nonetheless (don't try and throw it into the fire tough...).When not acting as a battery extender for iPad, the Kensington Powerback is an iPad stand, thanks to the kickstand that f...
First of all, to get rid of any confusion, the Boogie board LCD writing tablet is not a touchscreen tablet per say, but an advanced Etch A Sketch with the ability to write directly on the screen, a flexible plastic LCD, called Reflex LCD in this case. It's the kind of screen that persistently keeps the info designed on it without needing power.A watch type battery is provided for the Boogie board tablet that allows for up to 50.000 screen resets. The price, 30 $ on Amazon is what makes this ...
As with any mobile device battery life is always a concern, if not the biggest issue. What’s the point of doing work on the road it you have to stop at an outlet from time to time and charge your batteries. Average battery life improved a lot during past years, but devices keep adding more and more features, connections and pack more power, that has to come from, you guessed, the battery, which as technology hasn’t evolved too much all this time. That’s why I think people who buy touch ...
