For some 5 inches doesn’t seem much, but a lot of manufacturers are considering this size, mainly because it allows for a very portable device, something that a lot o people but in front of the size and capabilities of a gadget. Personally I believe 5 inches is enough for most tasks but don’t expect to get the same usability like you get from a larger format tablet.
After a lot of writing about the Dell Streak without actually testing it is time to put down my first hands on experience with Dell's 5 inch offering, as it was just launched here in Eastern Europe. Unlike the US version it comes unlocked for all GSM networks for a price of approximately 800 USD, but a subsidized version is in works (the deal with local GSM provides is still being discussed).I won't get into too much details about the specs of Dell Streak but I will make a short list of the ...
We've talked a lot here about Dell Streak, the 5 inch tablet, that already sells in UK but hasn't appeared yet in US. I say yet, because starting today we know when it's gonna land here and at what price point. August 13th, 3 days from now, is the moment you'll be able to get your 5 inch MID/tablet/smartphone from Dell's website only and the cost is 299 $ with a 2 year AT&T subsidized contract or 599$ unlocked, contract free. You can preorder it now and get a Plantronics Bluetooth headset fo...
Now that we know more about Dell's Streak US launch it's time to take a look the polished Android custom interface from Dell in a short video presentation from one of Dell's officials. Unlike HTC, Dell didn't redraw all the Android interface, but limited itself to make it more practical, which doesn't mean is not an effort worth considering.Browsing on the large 5 inch screen (large compared to smart-phones) is something you'll enjoy, plus video playback is smooth enough. The large virtual k...
As the end of July is here, it becomes more and more clear that Dell isn't going to be ready to launch its 5 inch Steak tablet in US in time, as promised before. That's doesn't mean they leave us staring at the sun, so Dell released a short video demo with the Dell Streak in prototype form running Android 2.1, with a promise that Android 2.2 Froyo will make its way into the device sometime at the end of the year via a firmware upgrade. Is worth pointing out that the demoed Streak in the video...
Dell Streak is one of the few slate tablets that will appear this year and apparently is one of the coolest ones, some even saying it's what PDAs should have been 10 years ago. Anyway, the US launch of the Dell Streak is approaching the deadline and Dell posted a sign up form that will remind you when you can pre-order it.The delay of US launch versus Europe is not clear to me but I can speculate that Dell wanted to test the water first in good old Europe, or they wanted to strike a deal wit...
Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated tablets for 2010 is Dell Streak Mini 5, which we've talked about extensively here at All Touch Tablet quite a few times. We know now the approximate shipping date in US, which is next month and the enduser price, without a subsidy, a nice round 500$. It's less than anticipated initially but a little bit too much for a 5 inch tablet, if you ask me. Thank God it ships with a 3G modem included, as this is just a few dozen dollar option in other tablets.It...
Most people are not willing to pay the price of a touch tablet if it's in the same price range as that of a regular laptop and it's hard not to understand them. Why pay for a secondary device the price you would normally pay for your main device? That's why a tablet like Enso zenPad makes more sense, at a sub 200$ price. Of course, you don't get too much: 5 inch touch screen (800 x 480 pixels), Android 1.6 OS, optional GPS and 3G external adapter, 8 GB internal memory (microSD card which can be ...
