Articles about 5 inch tablet

For some 5 inches doesn’t seem much, but a lot of manufacturers are considering this size, mainly because it allows for a very portable device, something that a lot o people but in front of the size and capabilities of a gadget. Personally I believe 5 inches is enough for most tasks but don’t expect to get the same usability like you get from a larger format tablet.

Have you read the rumor about Lenovo making a 5 inch tablet (see here)? I can tell you it was not just a rumor, as Lenovo just announced it officially in China as LePad S2005 together with two other models, the 7 inch S2007 and 10 inch S2010, all from the S2 series.LePad is Lenovo's tablet brand for China, so expect these models to arrive in the rest of the world as IdeaPad S2005, S2007 and S2010 if nothing changes from previous generations. All these tablets feature dual core processors, so...

Lenovo is working on 5 inch IdeaTab small tablet

Even if Lenovo had a late start with the tablet market they've always been important players in the tablet PC arena with the X220t, a gorgeous 12.5 inch convertible tablet. This year the company has launched some interesting products like the professional Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, the cheap Ideapad A1 or the Netflix certified Ideapad K1, but they haven't achieved too much success with them, mainly because of the fact people seem to dodge Android tablets, so it's not necessarily Lenovo's fault....

Samsung Galaxy Note phone/tablet gets new commercial teasers

The tablet of the week, if we can call it a tablet, is the Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5 inch slate that can easily be used as a phone which got a lot of attention from the press, first because of an official teaser then through a hands on video that details pretty much anything you want to know about it.Today I've stumbled upon new commercial teasers that depict a few scenarios where the Samsung Galaxy Note is better than a tablet or a phone, by highlighting the stylus functionality. At the e...

Samsung Galaxy Note video review: size doesn’t seem an issue

I know we've been talking a little bit too much past days about the Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5.3 inch tablet/smartphone, but it's one interesting device, with a form factor that reminds us of the 2000's PDAs.Someone posted a comment on All Touch Tablet which basically asked the question: "who would buy the Samsung Galaxy Note?". It's a valid question and I'll try to answer it before showing you the 10 minutes video review made by newgadgets.de in a German store. So, what makes the Samsung G...

LeapFrog LeapPad: a tablet for kids

Tablets are great devices for general use, but they're not general in the way they deal with audiences of various ages. And I'm referring to kids here, as there are requirements when it comes to parental controls, the kind of info they are exposed to and other small things we don't generally take into account when shopping for a tablet. That's why LeapFrog, a company known for manufacturing educational toys for kids, has ventured into the tablet land with LeapPad, a reincarnation of an old pr...

AdvanceTC has a 5 inch Windows 7 tablet

I hear you say crazy? Yeap, AdvanceTC has done it, it caught our attention with its tiny Windows 7 tablet, featuring a very small 4.8 inch screen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. It's not the resolution that will kill you, but the small screen. I've tested the bModo 12G tablet, a 11.6 inch tablet, and it felt small to me in terms of UI elements size, so I can only imagine how the AdvanceTC model will work like in real life, even if it comes with a stylus. And this is not all, as AdvanceTC can b...

Sharp Galapagos tablets: more than just eReaders

Even if worldwide Sharp is not that a big company, the thing is that in Japan they're pretty big, and let's see the latest example why. Today Sharp announced two new advanced eBook Readers from the Galapagos series. The two models launched are a 5.5 and a 10.8 inch screen models. The smaller one is codenamed "mobile type" while the bigger version is the "home type" reader tablet. What's interesting about those products is the high screen resolution: 1024 x 600 pixels for the 5.5 inch Galapago...

O2 version of Dell Streak to get Android 2.1 update this week

If you've followed our Dell Streak hands on preview or all the other news about this 5 inch tablet you already know that one of the biggest problems with it is the Android 1.6 OS, an antiquated version of Google's Open Source software. Even if distributors and mobile operators are saying that firmware upgrades are coming for the Streak, no official info was released by Dell, so you don't know yet what to expect, or when.It seems that now O2, the operator selling the Streak in UK, has confirm...

How to do stuff on your Dell Streak (follow up videos)

After playing with the Dell Streak at the official launch in my country it's time to take a deeper look at the 5 inch tablet by looking at a few videos that give you an idea about how it feels in hand and in pockets, how you can choose a better keyboard and how you can read books, install new books and the Kindle app for Android.I've done those videos together with my friend Mike after receiving the Dell Streak tablet. We're going to keep the sample for a few days so if you feel like needing...

Dell Streak hands on with pictures and video

After a lot of writing about the Dell Streak without actually testing it is time to put down my first hands on experience with Dell's 5 inch offering, as it was just launched here in Eastern Europe. Unlike the US version it comes unlocked for all GSM networks for a price of approximately 800 USD, but a subsidized version is in works (the deal with local GSM provides is still being discussed).I won't get into too much details about the specs of Dell Streak but I will make a short list of the ...
