Samsung Galaxy Note and TAB 7.7 appear online in US

Two of the tablets we were expecting at the end of this year are the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy TAB 7.7 - a 5.3 inch and 7.7 inch respectively tablets. Both have just appeared online in US with Expansys.I'm sure they're not here officially yet (Gray market perhaps), as the price for Galaxy Note seems out of this world: $944, a price for which you can expect to buy three tablets, not just one. At the same time we still have hope for Galaxy TAB 7.7, which is listed as pre-order, ...

Blackberry Playbook Buy 2, Get 1 Free program in effect

Announcing the further delay of Blackberry Playbook OS 2.0 for mid-February didn't made any favours to RIM, as the seriously discounted tablet (as low as $300) still isn't selling as expected.Certainly the end of 2011 sees some dark times for the Canadian company, who's also facing a class action lawsuit in US over the recent Blackberry services outage that took a few days to fix. That's why RIM hopes to shed some light on this financial quarter by starting a new business discount program fo...

What features would you like to see in the iPad 3? [poll]

Since this is a (very) slow week I thought of posting the first poll here on AllTouchTablet. And the topic I'm thinking off is the features you would like to see in the iPad 3 tablet. We've covered a few rumors here, but to tell you the truth there's nothing certain about it except the fact it might get the high res Retina Display. And since Apple is not going to release or leak any info about the iPad 3 before the official announcement all we can do is look for hints, read the news and, most...

Barnes and Noble Nook Color 2 could launch in November, just before the Kindle Fire

Even if Barnes and Noble is not quite the same size as Amazon when it comes to eReading, it's probably the only company right now that's able to compete in the eBook market with Amazon. Their series of Nook eReaders is due for an update soon, as rumors point towards Nook Color 2 preparing for the official announcement in November, probably on the 7th.As expected, the Nook Color 2 will sell for $200 maximum, thus continuing the pricing strategy from Barnes and Noble, plus it makes it easier ...

Samsung Galaxy Note phone/tablet gets new commercial teasers

The tablet of the week, if we can call it a tablet, is the Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5 inch slate that can easily be used as a phone which got a lot of attention from the press, first because of an official teaser then through a hands on video that details pretty much anything you want to know about it.Today I've stumbled upon new commercial teasers that depict a few scenarios where the Samsung Galaxy Note is better than a tablet or a phone, by highlighting the stylus functionality. At the e...

Dell Latitude ST 10 inch tablet is now official

Just a few days after being leaked in a promotional video Dell puts live the official product page for Latitude ST tablet. This means that quite a few other details have been confirmed, although not all specs were made public. What we know up until now is that Dell Latitude ST is a slate tablet meant for the business market, as it comes with such features as TPM (Trusted Platform Module), BitLocker Encryption, Kensington Lock, and N-trig digitizer & stylus, Corning Gorilla Glass and a ru...

iPad 3 could be delayed because of Retina display, or get same res as iPad 2

One of the biggest rumors about the upcoming iPad 3 tablet is the use of a Retina Display with a huge 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. It was expected on the iPad 2, but it wasn't to be, so there's a big chance it will make it to the iPad 3 sometime next year. Why I say sometime next year is because it seems manufacturers like LG and Samsung have problems building enough panels (15 millions units per quarter). Simply put, there are too many pixels for each 10 inch panel, which puts a strain on...

Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime TF201 gets some unofficial pictures

One of the tablets I'm eager to see on market is the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer 2, confirmed to be called TF2o1 Transformer Prime and also teased to all of us a few days about by Jonney Shih, company's chairman. As of a few hours ago on Internet surfaced a few pictures with close up views of the  EEE Pad Transformer Prime that reveal what I've already intuited from the first official teaser: a LED flash for the back camera and a very slim design that matches visually the Zenbook series of ult...

iOS 5: setting up and using notifications [video]

With the latest update to iOS 5 [our coverage of features here] Apple surely raised the bar for its mobile operating system, but it still lacks to Android in terms of basic things like widgets. The gap was even wider prior to version 5 when all iOS devices needed badly a new notification center similar to the one found in Android devices. This post is about the new Notification Center, a highly configurable software feature that slides down from the top of your iPad/iPhone/iPod screen with a ...

Best cases and covers for Kindle 4 and Kindle Touch eReaders

Amazon announced the fourth generation Kindle eReader and the new Kindle Touch (with a 3G version) in the autumn of 2011 and all devices are a huge leap forward in terms of design, functionality and even pricing, starting at as low as $79 for Amazon Kindle 4 and going up to $99 for Kindle Touch and $149 for Kindle Touch 3G.With this pricing scheme Amazon sets a new bar for how cheap it is to get into eReading. It's also pushing Kindle cases and accessories manufacturers to lower their prices...
