All big companies in the world have the interest to protect their future plans and products, but almost every time information leaks on Internet, more ore less detailed. The latest victim is Lenovo, which didn't manage to protect their 2010 roadmap, that was probably leaked by some partner who took a picture during a presentation. There are a few models that will be launched this year like the W701 workstation, L400 and L500 (replacements for the R series), the X201 and X201S touchscreen model b...
This is really funny, the dust didn't even settled on the iPad launch and there are rumors about Apple looking into building a slate type tablet that uses more powerful hardware and runs a Mac OS X version close to what we see in the current Apple lineup of laptops and desktop computers. If you look back at the iPad rumors there were some speculations that Apple is working a different sizes of tablets, from 7 to 10 inch, but the 'new' rumor says it's gonna be a large 15 inch tablet, but a lig...
iPad is essentially a grown up iPod that uses the same light OS of the iPhone. Chrome OS, due sometime this year, is a lightweight operating system for portable devices and is assumed to be the OS of choice for touch tablets too, as will offer the best online experience compared to its competitors Windows Mobile, iPhone OS and even Android.[caption id="attachment_1281" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="A familiar face"][/caption]While Google hasn't announced anything official, yet...
Remember quantum tunneling touchscreen technology? It's that technology which will allow pressure sensitive panels to be fitted to small devices like nothing we've seen before. Apparently Nissha signed an agreement with Peratech that allows them to use the technology in US for one year on devices with screens smaller that 3.5 x 5.5 inches. With this occasion we found out more about QTC (quantum tunneling) that uses particles with spikes that detect a contact from the early stages when you're ...
One of the problems I see with touch tablets is the lack of physical keyboard which makes stuff like office work out of the office, no matter how you see the problem. If you have large quantities of text to write it's clear that touch tablets are not an option. Someone (Mobience) thought of this impediment and developed the smallQWERTY gadget, a small wireless keyboard meant to be used not only with touchscreens but also with cellphones, MIDs and other types of touch devices.[caption id="att...
We're written here about Acer's plans to release a touch tablet sometime in 2010 but now that Apple launched the iPad, we have info saying that Acer's approach will be nothing like the Apple product. Acer's president said recently that they're not gonna copy iPad's design, plus they don't have the same ecosystem as Apple with iTunes and the App Store. As in past year, Acer will concentrate on bringing to market thin and light competitors, with focus on value and battery life, the main things ...
Archos is one manufacturer known for its multimedia players (MP3, MP4 and PMP) but they also have a line of products that resemble PCs as configuration. Now that tablets are the trend it seems normal for Archos to release slate type devices. They have the Archos 7 (a 7 inch tablet) running a proprietary version of Linux, but there are rumors about an Android powered Archos 7 tablet that will cost just 180 EUROS (approximately 250$).The specs are still not officially announced, but rumors say...
It is expected for a lot of iPads lookalikes to hit the market soon for two reasons: everyone is copying the best, that's a fact and the iPad has a simple design so it's hard not to do a slate type PC that won't look like an iPad at least in terms of design. ExoPC is a 8.9 inch (1024 x 600 pixels screen) slate that does the latter, as it features a different hardware inside: Windows 7 Professional powered by an Atom N270 CPU running at 1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, a 32 GB SSD drive expandable with the use...
If you ask someone about China's place in the IT&C worlds most people would say they're the ones that copy everything that flies/swims/walks on this Earth. Well, not all Chinese companies are built the same and the difference that comes to my mind is Shenzhen Great Long Brother Industrial Co. which intends to sue Apple over iPad design because they've filed a patent for a similar device, P88 in China in May 2009, a tablet that was also introduced at IFA Berlin last year. They know that in US...
After a set of news about the HP Touchsmart TM2 convertible tablet it's time to see the first unboxing, done by a fellow who actually bought it and squeezed 5 minutes on video on Youtube. From what can be seen below it seems that the Touchsmart TM2 is a pretty solid device, with a nice chiclet keyboard, nice array of ports and a not so nice shiny screen that will attract fingerprints and will definitely render the tablet unusable under direct sunlight. Enjoy!Source: Engadget...
