We’ve mentioned ZAGG products on AllTouchTablet quite a few times and we had only good things to say about them except the fact all their tablet keyboards are expensive (~$100) and don’t work with multiple tablets. It’s like Zagg head us, as today it announced the pre-order availability of their new ZAGG Keys Solo bluetooth keyboard for tablets and smartphones.
Finally Zagg managed to build up an external keyboard that’s compatible with multiple devices, while reducing the price to an affordable $69. That’s what I call progress, and wait till you find out more about this small external keyboard that also doubles as stand for compatible tablets.
As you can see from the pictures in this post, Zagg used a minimalist design for the Keys Solo wireless keyboard, one that resembles Apple’s own accessories. The keyboard uses the chiclet design with island separatet keys and features a thicker top part which houses the 510 mAh rechargeable battery (lasts for weeks before needing a recharge) and also acts as a tablet stand thanks to a ridge where you place your tablet. The inclination angle is not adjustable unfortunately. Also on the top of the ZAGGKeys Solo there are dedicated Power and Bluetooth enable buttons together with a connection status LED.

Clean design lines for ZAGG Keys SOLO
As you can expect there are quite a few custom buttons to access specific tablet functions. Here’s a comprehensive list:

- Search – Brings up the iPad 2 search screen
- Slideshow – Starts playing slideshow of saved pictures
- Virtual keyboard – Allows you to hide or show iPad 2 on-screen keyboard

Dedicated keys are available
The entire keyboard weight less than 11.5 ounces, so it won’t add too much weight to you travel bag so it’s a must have tablet accessory if you need to type a lot. The ZAGG Keys Solo is expected to start delivery in a few weeks.

Colors: choose from White, Black or Silver with black keys

Any thoughts on how it works on the Gal Tab 7″ or the newer Galaxy tablets?
Bummer that it doesn’t work on Thrive; I’m going to get one of those tablets for an August birthday boy. (44 years young)
From what I see Cahow, it works with the Galaxy TAB 10.1 excellent in landscape mode and poor in portrait mode (it works anyway). So I would stick to Zagg’s website and see if they update that chart
Dont know when this original post is dated, but thought I would add to it just in case anyone else that wonders by could benefit. I have the Zagg Solo keyboard that was recommended by (and purchased through) my local Verizon store to use with my Galaxy Tab 7.0. However, it does not fit in the groove it has on the keyboard. The Tab is too thick to stand up in either portrait nor landscape mode. In my opinion, you would be better suited to go with the Zagg Flex to use with the Tab 7.0.
Sorry to hear that Randi. I don’t trust wireless carriers, so it’s always better to check with the manufacturer of the accessories you’re going to buy first.
Hope you did get a refund.
