Oh my, Android tablets are starting to show up in stores, the latest being the Viewsonic ViewPad 7, presented during IFA Berlin in September. Price? Well, we should say priceless, as for 600 $ it’s quite an expensive tablet, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy TAB, which is also a more powerful tablet (from specs point of view). Anyway, if you don’t agree and want to get one you can preorder it already on Amazon.com. I know it’s listed right now as Out of stock, but this can only mean good things as some people before you have ordered it already.
So, let’s do a short recap of what you’re getting for 600 bucks, if you decide on the Viewsonic ViewPad 7 tablet: Android OS 2.2, 7 inch screen (800 x 480 pixels), capacitive with multi touch, WiFi, Bluetooth, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB flash storage, accelerometer, compass and a 3 megapixel camera. If it weren’t for the slow Qualcomm CPU (600MHz is slow for today’s standards) and the pretty ridiculous price I would have been tempted with it, to tell the truth. And it’s all because of the build quality of this thing, something most current gadgets lack.
And here’s a short hands on with the Viewsonic ViewPad 7 to remind you of it:
