Creative is a well known name in the PC audio accessories niche, but they were pretty absent from the news in past years. That is until today, when they’ve announced two Android tablets, the Ziio 7 and Ziio 10, a 7 inch tablet and 10 inch respectively. As you can expect, those two newcomers are multimedia oriented devices, boasting a powerful X-Fi based audio chip that ensures low latency wireless audio streaming to Bluetooth headsets. Another plus is the Zii ZMS-08 system on a chip, that integrates an ARM Corex A8 CPU at 1 GHz and is capable to decode 1080p HD videos.

So you have it: Creative put some of its multimedia know how into those tablets to make them somehow distinguish themselves from the competition, which in my opinion consists of the Archos tablets, not the iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab. The main difference betweeen the Ziio 7 and Ziio 10 is the screen, one a 7 inch resistive touchscreen and the other a 10 inch resistive touchscreen. Screen resolution is 800 x 480 pixels and 1024 x 600 respectively. Both Android tablets feature 8 GB of internal memory, with 16 GB models on the way. From the package you won’t miss Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g and a microSD card slot.

Street price will be 279$ and 333$ at launch. We don’t know yet anything about the Android OS version, but we hope it’s the Android 2.2, not the already antiquated 2.1.
