Apple iPad’ Category

iPad: the tablet that started it all. If there’s one point in time when touch tablets become popular, it’s by the time the first rumors about Apple’s touchscreen tablet have hit the web. Everything now is compared to iPad, just like it happened with other breakthrough Apple products.

And the iPad 2, the second generation, already seems a bigger success than the previous modes, with sales rising even more thank so the new slimmer body, increased performance and a the addition of digital cameras for Facetime and video chats. The iPad 2 is the tablet to get in 2011.

iPad 3 to be slightly thicker than iPad 2 due to new components

I remember writing once about the new iPad 3 tablet, due to launch early next year, that it will come in a slightly thicker body than the current generation. Now this rumor surfaced again on a Japanese Blog, citing Asian component suppliers, that mention current iPad cases that cover the back of the tablet won't fit the next generation iPad. The Smart Cover will have no problems working with the iPad 3, as the profile has the same rounded shape as before. If you recall, the added thicknes...

iPad 3 to be thicker than iPad 2 rumor might be true

We've got quite a few rumors about the upcoming iPad 3 tablet (early next year), all praising the new features that improve on the previous models, but none of these whispers have covered the fact iPad 3 could be thicker than the iPad 2.Yes, you've heard right, the third gen iPad tablet might be 0.7 mm thicker than the previous model simply because Apple has to accommodate two lamps to brighten up the increased numbers of pixels of the Retina Display (four times more pixels). The differen...

This is the time of the year when you start hearing more the word wish list. People are making plans for Black Friday [our preview], Cyber Monday and Christmas and guess who leads the pack? iPad 3 could be delayed because of Retina display, or get same res as iPad 2

One of the biggest rumors about the upcoming iPad 3 tablet is the use of a Retina Display with a huge 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. It was expected on the iPad 2, but it wasn't to be, so there's a big chance it will make it to the iPad 3 sometime next year. Why I say sometime next year is because it seems manufacturers like LG and Samsung have problems building enough panels (15 millions units per quarter). Simply put, there are too many pixels for each 10 inch panel, which puts a strain on...

Apple Smart Cover case for iPad 2 gets an update (colors and lining)

One of the secondary enhancements the iPad 2 has received was the Smart Cover case, an official Apple accessory which greatly complemented the slim tablet with a very slim profile, stand functionality and a very clever magnetic mechanism for automatic attachment and wake/sleep function when you take the cover off or put it on.Apple doesn't normally update its accessories, so it comes as a surprise that they've updated the Smart Cover case. Let's see how the new case for iPad 2 differs from t...

iPad 2 Security Bug: Bypass the Passcode with any Smart Cover Case [video]

The guys at 9to5mac have uncovered a pretty bad security bug concerning the iPad 2 and iOS 5 (iOS 4.3 has the same problem apparently) that could allow someone to bypass the Passcode meant to secure your beloved tablet with a simple Smart Cover case, or just a magnet. The problems is that someone could gain access to the last app used if it wasn't minimized. And I mean complete access. If you  leave your iPad 2 in 'desktop' you can scroll through all your screen and see which apps are insta...

iOS 5: the new Safari browser features [video]

Apple not only introduced new features with the iOS 5 software update, but also improved on the features of some default apps. One of these apps is the Safari Browser which got tweaked for performance.Safari mobile also received two important features that we're going to detail in this post:  a tab bar for easy access to opened sites and a reading list for temporary bookmarks you want to read later. So let's see them: The tab bar This is the most obvious addition to Safari in iOS5. It's...

iOS 5 – How to set up and enable iTunes WiFi Sync [video]

One of the most important features of iOS 5, as introduced by Apple, is iTunes WiFi Sync, an important new move towards total independence of tablets from computers, the devices Apple hopes to replace (PCs, as Apple doesn't want to kill Macs... just yet). What iTunes WiFi Sync does is pretty simple: syncs your iPad with your iTunes installation without having to physically connect the two. All you need is a WiFi network, an iPad and a computer/Mac, both connected to the same  network. Once y...

The iPad Mini could actuall be a 7.85 inch iPad

Remember the last week rumor about a mini iPad, a dumbed down version of the current iPad 2 meant as a cheap Apple tablet to compete with the Kindle Fire? Apparently the iPad Mini will be a smaller size tablet, not a product with weaker hardware, which is something we applaud, even if Steve Jobs has said last year that a 7 inch form factor is not good enough to allow for comfortable touch use with current software. How do we know this? Apple just ordered a few samples of 7.85 inch screens ...
