A few days ago, when Steve Jobs announced the availability of the 6th gen iPod Nano and 4th gen iPod Touch he also hinted at the iOS version 4.2 upgrade for iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone that is set to arrive sometime in November this year. It’s not the first update to come, as iOS 4.1 is scheduled to hit upgrade servers pretty soon, but it’s the upgrade most are waiting for as it will give the iPad new ‘powers’, allowing it to catch up with the iPhone 4 in terms of functionality, plus adds a few other stuff people will definitely want to have.

So, as Apple has posted the official page for iOS 4.2, which details the upcoming features, let’s see what it will bring to current users:

    • Multitasking that works just like on iPhone 4
    • Folders where you can group your applications (no File System support, as you might think)
    • Printing (the most basic feature that was missing)
    • Videos, music, pictures streaming via AirPlay
    • Better Email support
    • Search function on web pages
    • Game Center, a kind of social gaming hub (think XBox Live achievements system)
    • Enhanced enterprise support
    • Keyboard and dictionary enhancements
    • Accessibility enhancements

All together there are over 100 enhancements, modifications of new functions that will make the iPad even better. Hope it will come up in time.
