Busted, I would say to Apple, since they’ve hidden some cool multi touch gestures deep inside the code of iOS 4.3, gestures that would allow you to easily control your iPad 2 (and iPad 1) when multitasking. Thankfully, the guys at Gizmodo managed to stumble upon those features and even posted a walk-through on how you can activate them on your recently bought device.  Why I say walk-through is because those features are available in developer mode, but there’s still a way for normal folks like you an me to benefit from them.

So, let’s take a look at the gestures themselves, which involve using 4 or more fingers (but 4 is the minimum). First pinching bring you to the main menu, no matter in what apps you’re in (normally you press the main button), then scrolling up brings the list of running apps (you would double tap the iPad main button for that) and scrolling down hides that list. Those are pretty impressive gestures, but the real gem is flipping your fingers left of right, which switches between running apps. That’s something I would have liked to see in the final version of iOS 4.3. Don’t know why Apple considered it’s not worth our attention.

Here’s a small video demo of what I’ve just told you, showcasing all those multi-touch gestures not meant for our eyes:

Now if you want to know exactly what you have to do to activate those multi touch gestures, head on to Gizmodo’s how to article and follow closely their instructions. And make sure you have 5 bucks to spare, as the whole thing involves buying a certain app. I know, it sucks, but it’s the only way right now, until Apple decides to bring this functionality in iOS 4.4 (if ever). Let me know what you make of those gestures: are they useful for you or not?
