As expected some celebrities around the world have already been playing with the iPad for a few days or maybe even weeks, so it’s no wonder that a few hi-tech media personalities have already posted reviews of the upcoming (on April 3rd) reviews. So here we have David Pogue (NY Times), Walt Mossberg (Wall Street Journal) and Edward Baig (USA Today) talking about the iPad. Even British actor Stephen Fry got his one and even made an unboxing video of the iPad plus the Apple official case and keyboard dock that will arrive for non-celebrities in late April.

I like the approach of David Pogue who actually wrote two small reviews, one for tech guys and another for regular people. The first category he calls the haters and the second, obvious, are the iPad lovers. His final conclusion is that the iPad is an interesting machine to consume media on but not that good at creating content and he says that if you like the concept you’ll love the iPad. If not there’s not much you can do about it. Walt Mossberg (as always, I would add) likes the new shiny Apple product that he sees coming so close to replacing the laptop but only time will tell if this will happen. I’ll spare him the waiting and tell him it ain’t gonna replace laptops for people who use it for doing some work or for young people that use it for social media, chat, blogging and such, which I believe includes pretty much anyone. He also notes that the iPad’s battery lasts for more than the advertised 10 hours.

Edward Baig is a little more conservative on using words like incredible, amazing and so on. He just says it’s another winner product from Apple, that he likes a lot and he sees it as a nice product to consume media with. He doesn’t like the fact that the iPad relies heavily on iTunes, which I have to agree with him. But before I get mine for testing (if ever, ha ha) let’s see the unboxing made by Stephen Fry, a man of few words (my kind):
