iPhone took 74 days to reach the millionth item sold and iPad did it in less than 30 days. That’s a way to say it’s a revolutionary device, by our standards, not the ones set by Steve Jobs. That’s the latest figure, after the launch of the 3G model this weekend. After testing it myself I’ve started to understand why people love it: because it’s a simple device. It doesn’t do much but at least it’s easy to use and gives no pain to the user in form of Blue Screens of Death of complicated interface. It’s everything the casual surfer/eBook reader needs.
Along with the 1 million devices sold in April by Apple, 1.5 millions eBooks and 12 millions apps were sold, demonstrating that Apple knows how to get money from every pocket by using any opportunity it gets. I’m curious to see if it hits 10 million by end of the year.
