The source for 2012 iPad, Android and tablet PC news, reviews and accessories guides
Touch tablets and slate tablets in particular are the most important new gadgets launched this year and we must give credit to Apple for starting the rumors about a new kind of device that would revolutionize the way we consume media in out spare time.
Now that the iPad is here and quite a few manufacturers have followed Apple it’s time to draw the line and see what’s the status: are tablets good enough for multiple types of usage patterns or are they constricted to browsing, reading emails and media viewing?
First, is worth mentioning that there’s no right or wrong answer, no winner and no loser. It all depends on which tablet you’re referring to and which type of usage you refer to.
Take for example netvertibles and classic tablet PCs: those are fully fledged netbooks/laptops with a twist-able touch screen and thus can be used as regular systems. There’s no difference here. On the other hand if you refer to slate tablets the story changes completely. The lack of physical QWERTY keyboard makes all the difference in the world.

Productivity on a tablet is not a myth
Without a normal keyboard it’s hard to do simple tasks like writing an email, changing Facebook status, not to mention tasks that involve writing big documents. But the story is not that simple, as there are ways to be productive on a slate tablet if you really want to, and in this article I will try and present some of the options at your disposal.
1 Buy a keyboard – no virtual typing method will ever match a keyboard, period
2 Get a mouse – because after a few hours of flicking your fingers on the screen you will get tired, trust me
3 Get a laptop desk stand – or should I say tablet stand, so that you can position the screen at the perfect viewing position that won’t affect your health after hours of prolonged use
4 Use a big screen TV or monitor – as much screen real estate as you get from a tablet while browsing, is nothing compared to a Full HD monitor you can get for cheap, plus your eyes will thank you for that later
5 Use cloud synchronization – to keep your files updated in real time. You won’t lose time copying them all over, plus they’re safe out there. And use as many online services as possible to eliminate the need for custom software that needs to be installed and customized
That’s pretty much it, the list of things you can do to be more productive on a touch tablet computer. Do you have any tips to share with us?
sounds like to be productive while still retaining tablet fun you need the good old convertible.
The thing is you need the real stuff productive desktops have in order for you to be productive: fast response, big display, qwerty keyboard and good software. That’s it
Keyboard + mouse + laptop desk stand + larger monitor. Looks like I’d better buy a laptop instead :)
This is what I would do if work was my priority
