You might have missed this bit of news from March which shows some hidden features into iOS 4.3 including multi touch gestures for the original iPad. Now that iOS 5 is available these four and five finger gestures are available for iPad 1 and iPad 2 owners. At first I thought these new gestures are really complicated and have limited real life functionality, but apparently I was wrong: they're very cool and proves Apple can still improve the iPad on the software with future updates. How to ...
Today we're going to take a look at an iPad stand: the ATake Suction Stand [official release info]. This is different from other tablet stands in the way it works: a suction cup is used to create a vacuum between the stand and your tablet's back panel. A small lever is used to attach/detach the stand.ATake Suction Stand is made from white plastic and works with pretty much any tablet on market. I wish a tougher material was used to make it stronger because right now it feels a little flimsy....
Despite the fact the iPad was launched more than 18 months ago one key app that's missing from the Appstore is the official Facebook app. There was speculation as to why that happened, most rumors pointing towards Apple's own ads being displayed instead of the ones managed by Facebook, but as of today you can install the official Facebook App for iPad. It's Free, as expected, and looks a lot like the leaked one from July.If you're having problems upgrading from the old app, the one made fo...
The sad news arrived yesterday. My first impulse was to check other sites to see if this wasn't some kind of sick joke, as it happened quite a few times in the past year. Unfortunately in the following minutes my RSS feed was full with news announcing Steve Jobs has passed away at only 56.The 56 years he had lived were full years, years in which he helped build a huge market for personal computers from the ground up, invented the iPod, established Apple as a top tier company and launched a n...
Now that the revelation for the end of this year was announced: Amazon Kindle Fire, a 7 inch tablet with a surprisingly low $199 price point I've started noticing the first accessories for it, namely cases, folios, sleeves and covers. Since the tablet will be released on November 15th I bet there will be lots of new accessories coming, but since a lot of consumers have already pre-ordered the Kindle Fire I'd say giving them a list of accessories to choose from is not a bad idea.Since the Kin...
Yesterday was a busy day for Amazon, which announced lots of new products including the Kindle Fire tablet and new Kindle eReaders. I'm not going to take you through the specs again, as I've did it yesterday (click the two links in this paragraph for details on the new 2011 products).Instead I've placed a comprehensive table at the end of this post, taken from Amazon, which compares all current models and details the most important features. Prices vary from $79 to $199 for the new models to...
After announcing yesterday the Kindle Fire tablet, Amazon became a star, literally, with many praising the newcomer as the iPad 2 killer everyone was waiting for over 18 months. Is it that radical so that analysts consider it a game changer? Will consumers forget about Apple's offering altogether?I'm not sure, but one thing is certain: the slate tablet market will change radically in the months to come as Apple has now a serious competitor coming from world's biggest online retailer. This po...
One of the things I don't' like about the iPad is the fact it's too reliant on a Mac/PC when it comes to file sync. It's also pretty hard to move files around, from/to the iPad. This makes it pretty difficult to have important files shared and in sync between devices. iOS should solve with the backup problem, but not so much when it comes to availability on multiple devices (including non-iOS ones). Here's where Dropbox can help you, an excellent app for accessing and linking your Apple table...
One of the main uses of the iPad tablet is as an educational device. It's easy to understand why: it's a portable device that offers access to millions of pages and apps where scholars can learn things that help with their assignments.I don't know how things would have turned out if the iPad was available when I was in school, but I guess we'll find out in a few years how useful tablets really are from an educational standpoint. Anyway, this post is actually a short review of one of the best...
A lot of you have asked me or commented about a recommendation for a good tablet that can do handwriting recognition. It's not easy to answer this question, that's why I thought of writing this post and clarify things a little bit.Since the beginning of tablets you're used to see someone holding a tablet PC like an agenda and writing with a stylus. That was until earlier last year, when Apple introduced the iPad. Slates are not for writing The iPad marks the beginning of the slate tablets ...
