If you’re looking for a 10 inch Android tablet right now, the best form factor for slates according to analysts and consumer reports, the Toshiba Thrive (follow link for all our posts about the tablet) is one of the options because of two things: price and the impressive number of ports it ships with, making it easy to add new accessories and peripherals, something the Honeycomb 3.1 OS brought to the table.

That’s why I’ve thought of making a list with the current accessories, cases, folios, covers, styluses and other things you can buy for your Toshiba Thrive tablet to make it even better, to complement it, if you like. So without further ramblings, here’s my list with some of the best Toshiba Thrive cases and accessories.

    Toshiba Thrive Portfolio Case

Let’s start with what you would call a ‘classic’ Portfolio case. It’s not the cheapest Thrive case, but it offers double functionality, acting as a tablet stand with multiple viewing angles. Also worth noting is the hard shell construction and reinforced base that help protect the tablet during transportation and daily use.

It’s not that expensive either, so you do understand it’s made from synthetic black leather. As you can expect for a product specially designed for the Thrive tablet, there are cut outs that give access to the tablet’s ports, the most notable being the one on the top which offers access to the digital camera. It also makes the Thrive Portfolio case look distinctive.

rooCASE Ultra Slim Leather Case Cover with Capacitive Stylus Pen

If you’re looking for something that doesn’t add too much bulk to the already thicker than usual Thrive tablet get the rooCASE Ultra Slim cover, made from top grain leather. It’s a great deal since the screen cover can be flipped over and used as a horizontal stand (only one angle, suitable for typing).

All ports are available through special openings, as expected, but you can’t connect a dock unless you take the tablet out of its case (like the case with most tablet cases). A capacitive stylus is included to sweeten the deal, in case you are not convinced already.

    CaseCrown Foam Lined Hard Case

If you are like me probably you like your gadget bare naked when you use it, with no accessories and cases that add to the bulk. If you feel this way, but still want to protect your tablet during transportation you have the (cheap) option to get the CaseCrown Foam Lined Hard case for the Toshiba Thrive.

As the name suggests, it’s a hard shell case with a soft interior foam meant to absorb shocks. A sleeve pocket ensures the tablet doesn’t flip over inside the case. And if you must know, the CaseCrown Hard Case is made from green eco friendly materials, so you’re not killing the planet by buying one.

Denim Hardshell Case for 10 inch tablets

If you want a better looking hard shell case with a handle for easy carrying, you can go for the Denim Hardshell case. It’s made for any 10 inch tablet on market today and it even supports 10 inch netbooks, so if versatility is what you want this is a product that will last you longer than your gadgets will.

From the highlights: Velcro straps to keep the Thrive tablet secured during transportation, mesh inner pocket that can hold small Thrive accessories, CDs, USB Cables, pens and even a few sheets of paper. Oh, and the Denim hard shell case is also water resistant.

    Toshiba Thrive Colored Back Cover

Now if you remember, one of the most important design features of the Toshiba Thrive tablet is the ability to change the rubberized back cover with a coloured one from Toshiba. The offer is quite good, including Blue Moon, Green Apple, Lavender Bliss, Raspberry Fusion and Silver Sky.

You get to keep the rubberized, easy grip back, so no compromise here. You can get more than one place and interchange it very easy, with no technical skills needed for this action. It’s a nice (and cheap) way to personalize your Thrive tablet.

    Multi-Dock with HDMI

Usually people want to connect peripherals to a tablet when they’re sitting on a desk or something like that. It’s no fun using a mouse, a wireless keyboard when you are sitting on a sofa. You need the tablet to hold it’s own while you are busy with those peripherals. The best way to do that is to use the Multi-Dock with HDMI, a charging dock that adds a few ports to the already impressive number found on the Toshiba Thrive Tablet: 2 x USB 2.0, HDMI, 3.5 mm audio jack and the AC charging port.

This way you can have all peripherals connected to the dock so you can slide in and out the tablet with ease. The bad thing is you have to purchase your own HDMI cable and AC charger if you want to use the dock (but you can use the default Thrive charger if you wish). HDMI output is limited to 720p, btw.

    Toshiba 6-Cell Li-Ion Battery

One of the things that make the Toshiba Thrive an interesting tablet is the fact you can replace the Li-Ion battery yourself like you do with a laptop or smarphone. Of course you have to purchase an additional battery, as only one is delivered with the tablet itself.

This is the genuine Toshiba 6-cell Li-Ion battery for the Thrive tablet. It charges to 90% in about an hour and a half, if you want to know. Unfortunately there’s no battery charger that works without having to put the battery inside the Thrive, so you can’t charged all your batteries at the same time.

Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+

With all those Toshiba Thrive accessories is no wonder Logitech has stepped in and launched a wireless keyboard that can be used with all Android Honeycomb tablets running version 3.0 or newer.

Logitech’s model uses an island type chiclet keyboard with low profile keys and offers also a stand for your tablet. Since no special connector is used for the stand you can place the Thrive tablet in both portrait and landscape modes. The stand cleverly transforms into a carrying case for the wireless keyboard so you don’t have to worry about that.

Connectivity is done via Bluetooth (as expected) and a few Android specific keys are supported, including volume and playback shortcuts. The four included AAA batteries should power the keyboard for a few months with medium to heavy usage.

SumacLife Full Size Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard

If you want a cheaper alternative to the Logitech wireless keyboard accessory for Toshiba Thrive you can opt for the SumaLife model. It has a more generic look, but is significantly cheaper. It doesn’t come with a stand or carrying case, but it’s wireless and features a rechargeable battery.

The SumacLife keyboard features a 49 keys layout and a status LED to let you know when the accessory is connected.

Green Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case for Toshiba Thrive

Let’s end this list of best Toshiba Thrive cases, folios and accessories with the Green Neoprene Sleeve, a simple carrying accessory with a colour young people will love, and a friendly price.

This is not just an accessory for the Toshiba Thrive, as it can be used together with any 10 inch tablet/netbook. Just make sure your gadget fits into the 10,5 x 7,75 inch internal available space. Neoprene padding on the interior and exterior protect the tablet from scratches and (minor) bumps. You also get an external compartment for accessories, cables and such plus dual zippers to secure the sleeve closed and also to offer easy access to its contents.
