This is the first post of a monthly series that will try and present you with the best deals of touch tablets you can purchase at a given time. I’ll take into consideration the price, features, availability and even popularity (don’t know yet how I will do that) of various tablets. Of course, it’ll be my pleasure to receive updates from you guys as I don’t expect my list to be exhaustive. I will divide the list in tablet categories like slate tablets, convertible tablets, netbook tablets and such so you’ll be able to better pick your favorite. Many deals will be from Amazon, as it’s the best online store after all and availability of products it’s something they’re proud of.

So, without further blather let’s see the nominations for February 2010.

    Convertible tablets deals

    • Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet for 1698$ – it’s a strong convertible tablet that features a powerful CULV CPU running at 1.86 GHz, up to 4GB RAM and a 160 GB Hard drive. It’s a Thinkpad so it’s very solid build, no worries there
    • DELL Latitude XT2 for 2570$ – it’s expensive but comes with 3 years warranty, powerful CULV CPU and Windows 7. It’s a business device so don’t expect too many multimedia features
    • HP TouchSmart TX2 12.1 inch tablet for 1079$ – it’s one of the cheapest fully fledged tablets running Windows 7 and powered by a 2.3 GHz Turion CPU, 4 GB RAM, dedicated graphics, spacious hard drive. Battery life is on the low side at 3.5 hours, rated by manufacturer
    • Fujitsu LifeBook T1010 Tablet PC for 1338$ – This is a classic convertible tablet with Core 2 Duo architecture and a 2.26 GHz P8400 CPU, running the sluggish Windows Vista, but you can upgrade it. Actually is recommended to do so

    Netbook tablet best deals

    • ASUS Eee PC Touch T91 8.9-Inch Black for 455 $ – It’s got classic netbook hardware in a tablet body: 8.9 inch screen, Intel Atom Z520 CPU at 1.3 GHz, 16 GB SSD and Windows XP
    • GIGABYTE TouchNote T1028 10.1 inch for 699 – It’s got a slightly bigger screen with 720p resolution, a spacious hard drive (by netbook standards), and more powerful Atom CPU but it’s also more expensive that the ASUS T91.
    • Lenovo S10-3t 0651-37U 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) for 499$ – it’s a very good deal as it’s a mix of Gigabyte’s hardware with Asus pricing, except the screen resolution which is 1024 x 600 pixels

Unfortunately there aren’t any slate tablet deals from the new generation (but you can still buy laptop online if you’re not convinced by those new gadgets), announced at CES by pretty much any important manufacturer. I expect April to be the month JooJoo, iPad and other goodies hit shelves, but if it happens earlier I’ll let you know here on All Touch Tablet.
