Sony and cheap are two words that don’t fare well together, as the Japanese manufacturer is perceived as a premium brand. That’s not true for all their products, and the latest all-in-one touchscreen desktop, the VAIO J series proves this, with a starting point of only 900$.
That’s not cheap for a desktop but is inexpensive for a 22 inch full HD monitor (actually 21.5 inches) with touchscreen and integrated desktop hardware inside, hardware which is capable of running multimedia apps with ease, but won’t do much good in games, where the 512 MB NVIDIA discrete graphics (310M) can’t catch up with current Direct 11 titles. Configurations of VAIO J include a Core i7-620M CPU at 2.66 GHz (basic configuration start with Core i3), up to 8 GB RAM, a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, Blu ray drive (basic config gets a DVD writer) and Windows 7 Home Premium.
High end specs could make you take over 1500$ from your wallet but the starting configuration could prove good enough for mainstream users. As style concerned there’s plenty of it, making the Sony VAIO J one of the best all-in-one desktop with touchscreen to date.
Update: prices start at $899 for a Core i3 configuration
