Even if in US the All in One Desktop segment is dominated by Apple with the iMac there are still a few options worth considering (see here a list of All in One Touchscreen desktops you should look for), cheaper options with better features than the number one player. MSI is aiming to be one of those choices with the Wind Top AE2280 All in One desktop PC. Let’s break down into a few lines the advantages of MSI Wind Top AE2280 over the iMac: lower price (starts at 949.99$ with a Core i3 CPU), multi touch screen display and THX TruStudio Pro audio certification (too bad it doesn’t have a Blu Ray player).

MSI offers with Wind Top AE2280 its custom user interface called Wind Touch Generation III that transforms the Windows 7 interface into a more intuitive one to interact with, offering shortcuts to important programs and a few applications optimized for that purpose: Wind Mail, MSI YouCam, MSI YouPaint, MSI YouMemo being the most memorable in this suite.

For now there are two main models you can purchase: AE2280-009SUS and AE2280-008SUS, but the offers will diversify in a few months. Till then let’s see what you get for around 1000 bucks:

    • Intel® Core™ i3 530 (2.93GHz)/i5 650 (3.2GHz)
    • Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    • Discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD5430 with VRAM DDR3 512MB/Radeon HD5730 with VRAM DDR3 1GB
    • 2 x 5W Hi-Fi 5.1 channel speakers with THX Trustudio PRO
    • 21.5″ (16:9), 1920 x 1080, Full-HD Multi-Touch Panel
    • 4G DDR3 Memory / 640GB Hard Drive

MSI Wind Top AE2280 looks really good on paper so all we have to do now is wait to test it and see how it compares to other All in Ones.
