Remember the previous rumor about iMacs? That they’ll feature touchscreen displays and dual boot OSes (OS X and iOS)? Probably that was just stupid, but the touchscreen part still stands, according to Slashgear, who reported that Apple retailers were advised to keep a low stock on the 21.5 inch iMacs.
The rumor goes even further, suggesting USB 3.0 and faster Firewire ports (1600 or 3200 standard), Core i5 and i7 options and an entry level Core i3 CPU for those on a budget. If you want my opinion, I see all those hardware changes very likely to occur sometime at the end of August, just in time for back to school season, but the touchscreen deal seems a little too much as it will imply serious changes in Mac OS X. It’s not like Apple will just add touchscreen compatibility Microsoft style, without first testing to ensure that the user experience and usability is not compromised.
